2024-2025
By the National PTA
Theme: Accepting Imperfection
To Art Teachers (of all mediums) and Students:
If your PTA is running the Reflections program this year, continue reading. If your PTA is NOT running this program (yet), or your school does NOT have a PTA, please read below at the ***.
Participation is easy. Submit an original artwork & entry form* in any of these six categories** (click on the category for instructions/rules):
● Dance Choreography | Spanish
● Literature | Spanish
● Photography | Spanish
● Visual Arts | Spanish
*Students must submit their art & entry form (including a 100-word essay of their interpretation of the theme) to their teacher by October 20th. (Note: Entry forms must be signed by parents/guardians).
**Students may enter only one piece per category, but as far as I know, students may enter more than one category.
Once the students have submitted their artwork and entry form to their teacher by the school's deadline, the PTA will judge all entries and send the top 3 entries in each category to the county PTA council. The county then judges and selects entries to be forwarded to the National PTA for representation at the National level.
Notes and tips to students:
● In Reflections, interpretation of the theme is highly considered during the review process. To learn more about this, visit the section “Crafting a Reflections Artist Statement” here: Reflections Awards webpage. (Lower down on page)
● It may be valuable to know the criteria for judging the art:
Reflections Judging Guidelines
● Here are a few things the artists should consider. Review the section, “Artists can consider the following when developing a title and artist statement” on this page: Reflections Awards webpage.

If your school has a PTA and would like to participate in the Reflections Program for this year, please have your PTA President register your school and run this program (final submissions to the county vary by county, but could be as early as early/mid-November.)
If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact your local PTA.
If your school does NOT have a PTA, you can still enter the Reflections Program. See link above for more info. From the PTA website: "If a student attends a school that does not sponsor the National PTA Reflections Program, they may join any local PTA/PTSA or [In Florida] the Sunshine State PTA and submit an entry. A selection of entries will then be advanced to the nearest County Council for judging."
Wishing you all the best of luck!
